Ride Descriptions:

Spin D' Indy &  Indy Pass Time Climb

The ride on Friday is a one-way time trial from the outskirts of Aspen up to the summit of Independence Pass at 12,095 feet. This is very difficult, uphill challenge that has an elevation gain of 4,150 feet in a total of 22 miles on a scenic paved road. All attempts will be made to notify the public that this timed race will be taking place. The return trip to town is at your own pace and risk. You should have no problems keeping up with vehicles on the downhill return to town. Both State Patrol and local enforcement officers will be employed to provide rider guidance and help ensure safety.

Final Push to Indy summitThree waves of recreational riders are scheduled to begin at 7:05 AM leaving in groups of 3 riders every 30 seconds apart. The competitive time trial has two waves beginning at 10:05 AM. This is an sanctioned event and follows the strict rules and regulations of the American Cycling Association. Riders will be scheduled slowest to fastest based on rider estimates provided on their completed registration form. Wave starts will be on continuous running clock or timing chips. No shows for a given wave will be filled with available onsite riders. Final times will be posted at the end of the event and grouped according to age, sex, professional status, and bicycle type categories.

Two full aid stations plus three other opportunities for water will be on course. Medical teams and shag wagons on radios will be stationed at the middle and top of the rides facing down valley towards town for assistance or pick ups. Please make completely sure that your bicycle fuctions properly (gearing, tires, brakes, etc.) because there will be only minor repair support along the route. A full service bike repair station will be located at the summit and we encourage you to go over your ride or have it checked out before heading down.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All riders must wait at the summit until all riders have completed or been removed from the uphill course. Snacks and refreshments plus wind shelters and warming means will be made available while you help cheer on your friends and the racers. It also gives you the opportunity to rest, re-energize and acclaimate to the alltitude prior to the decent in regulated waves.

Team Evergreen - Race Across America

This manditory wait at the summit is a strict and an unbending rule made for your own safety and protection. It will maximize your downhill fun and eliminate any potential delays caused by vehicle traffic or very slow uphill riders. We strongly urge that you get yourself and your ride in shape before entering in this event. Remember: there is a cap on the number of riders.

Your friends or love ones can drive and park at the top of the pass in advance of the race. Detailed information on vehicle support and shuttle times will be provided to all registered participants. Such vehicles will not be allowed to head back to town until the last rider from the last wave has been released for the descent.
